I had Spicer U-joints SPR 199 installed on my half shafts today....my question is, are they strong enough for the torque my stock 1994 LT-1 produces.
Thanks!
I believe I've only ever seen that information on a Spicer "cross" and it's actually not a Spicer # for a u-joint package. Could it be on a 1350 series (correct for the half-shafts) but NOT a part #? Yes certainly. The SPR 199 might ID the "cross" as to how it's constructed, solid less a Zerk, with a Zerk or what-ever and likely the material. I would suspect it's solid with no Zerk but Spicer did a few different "grease-less" products. Your purchase was a non-Zerk product?
The part I'd think "very capable" - part # off of the box would ID the finish of the caps!!

I believe there were two different styles available for the C4.
Those with grease zerk fittings and those without.
The latter being prescribed for our Vettes.
I guess cross drilling for grease weakened the joint.
JrRifleCoach. U-joint without the zerk fitting is stronger and recommended for our cars. Unless you are drag racing constantly, either type should last you a long time with a stock LT1.
