Default throttle return spring

I have a 1986 c4 the throttle does not return without help(pulling back on gas pedal) . the spring appears to be weak or just broken, are the springs replaceable or must I purchase a new throttle body? Is it very difficult or can the average guy do it at home? tks

Can you just add a spring?

If the spring isn't broken then you very likely have worn TB shaft and TB itself there's not an easy fix. If the TB blades/shaft can be confirmed to NOT be causing the bind actually this "DOES WORK"

Requires patience!

Adding a spring to an already binding TB generally creates greater issues!

..... Try lubing the throttle shaft with a silicone or PTFE spray ... spray while working the throttle by hand (engine off of course) . This can be done easily enough without removing the TB from the car ... just pull the intake bellows off and spray into the ends and center where the shaft passes through the body of the TB .....
