Recently I switched my car to a Z51 rack. Finding one proved to be harder than I thought. It was a rebuilt unit.
Now, the rack is leaking worse than the one that come out of it. I did all of the "purging" of the power steering system as outlined by the instructions that came with it...
My question is, do I just bite the bullet and send this thing to TurnOne for a rebuild? I don't really want to put a rack in and out 3-4 times until I get one that doesn't leak. Input around the internet reveals that most rebuilt units leak, unless TurnOne does them. Not sure what they are doing differently than the others.

You may very well have purchased one that TurnOne considers not to be a "rebuildable core" when you send it! Leaks where? You purchased where?
I use rackdoctor for all my rack and pinon stuff. Lifetime warranty and have had no issues with the ones I bought from them.
That said racks for the c4 from them are not cheap. I don't know if they will let you send in one and have it built and sent back. I think its just an exchange deal but you could call them and ask.
I used turn1 to rebuild my factory 2.0 ratio rack, the steering is what I would call perfect now.
And it's extra tight right in the center, right where I would stay at high speeds, then loosens up a tad when I get out of that range.
I've had good luck with corvetterecycling.com often their parts are expensive but some times you can find some great C4 items there. I bought a rack from them a number of years ago as well as wheel bearings and brake rotors over the past 10 years.
I had mine rebuilt from turn one, excellent customer service. The rack feels tight and no more leaks. I highly recommend you send it out to them, get it done right. Nothing worse than having to do the same job twice.
