I like brodix alot and since I can get a helluva deal on them I'll probably go with them. I was just curious as to which head everybody preferred. I am suprised with all the AFR reccomendations....but then again how many people reccomended them that are actually running them. I like the deck thickness and the valve sizes that are available with the brodix head too. My machinest that has helped with all of our other motors said he could come up with some lifters, if he comes up with an extra set I'll get a hold of ya. Thanks to all who have posted, If anybody has any more suggestions feel free to post them.
PS- Mr Jay....Sometimes I have more timeslips in my wallet than I do money (I like your sig)

I'm all for solid cams vs hyd. be it flat tappet or roller. In the past, I've run solid lifters in my stock cars, my drag cars, and my daily driven street cars, as well as engines I've built for others. I've ran all season long with my drag cars as well as circle track racing, and not readjusted lash. I've found that the main reason for the lash to be readjusted was too much lash to begin with, as well as using quality components(push rods, rocker arm studs, valve springs, etc.) Most of the solids I've used, the cam card called for .018 up to .030 lash when hot! I have never ran more than .016 lash hot. I have done alot of valve adjustment testing on dyno as well as at the track, and have found interesting results. For several years now, comp cams, isky, and I belive crower have had a "new" tight lash solid cams, recomended lash is as low as .004 hot! Many off brand vehicle manufacturers(imports) have had solid lifter engines with .003-.006 lash settings that require adjustments every 30000 to some as high as 50000 miles! I just pulled the motor(357ci sbc) out of my TA (selling car because I bought the vette), and tore it down for inspection. I was very happy to find it in excellant shape, given the way my wife drove it! It has 16530 miles since being built, a isky solid lifter, flat tappet cam, that I never adjusted the valves on once I set them origionally. It had .560I/1.6ra .548E/1.5ra lift 254I/259E dur@.050 106lc, installed 4 deg. ret. Cam card called for .016I/.018E lash hot, I run them .012 on both. I had this engine on the dyno, and it made it's peak hp at 7200 rpm, cam was rated 3000-7000, and it made 7 hp more, and peak hp was 400rpm higher with .012 lash than with the recomended lash. I don't have the sheet, but it did loose torque, but only below 3500 or 4000 rpm with .012lash versus recomended lash. I was not concerned with torque, I ran a 4:11 gear, manual trans, and like upper rpm horse power :D I guess what I'm saying is, solids don't always mean more work. The better choice of cams for higher HP/TQ, as well as higher rpm range, you can't beat 'em. If you do not need to run high lifts(.510+) or high rpm, the hyd. set up would probably serve you just fine.
