Has anyone had the Lingenfelter upgrade done to their 93 Corvette. I was interested in having mine done (350 not 383) and was wondering if their are any comments.
I dont know of anyone who has had an LT1 modified by them, but from that package i think you could get similar numbers from a local (cheaper) tuner. Adding an LT4 Hotcam, 1.6 rr, exhaust, (you cant run longtube headers in CA), and having your heads ported by one of your local shops would be cheaper and give the same performance.
I'm sure someone knows of someone to do that work cheaper than the LPE $9100-9800 package.
But LPE does top notch work, and their stuff doesnt fail often.
I had them do the 383 package on my 93 and have more hp & tq than i can handle. One thing you can be sure of is that what you pay for is what you get and with a two yr warranty.I talked to tooo many guys that try to piecemeal a combination and end up with a lot less then what they thought they had.Only the dyno can tell what you get for your bucks.Lots of guys will tell you they got big hp,but can not back it up with real numbers. Good luck. :yesnod: :yesnod:
You can put together your own setup if you use the right parts and program the ecm. There isn't any magic to this. Get an LT4 hot cam, LT4 heads and intake, 1.6 roller rockers, correct programming and you have a 425 hp motor. Programming is key on a 93 LT1 because of the speed denisty ecm setup.
Most people who haven't gotten the performance expected didn't get the right programming done, got aftermarket heads that are not assembled properly (this appears to be a common problem with all mfrs these days), made an error at assembly time or had some other problem in the motor before they started.
Many of us have been successful with our stroker / performance mods.
Figure parts (3500), labor (1500), and programming (350) comes to about ~ 5500 . The rest of the difference in cost vs LPE is for the 2 year warranty.
Ligenfelter is a marque tuner. You get a good product but pay through the nose for it. There are plenty of smaller name tuners that will give you just as good a quality product for alot less. Try looking at http://www.moreperformanceinc.com for some examples of packages. Most tuners like vette doctors, carteck, ECS, etc. have similar packages you can get that will work just as well if not better for less money that you can put into your C6 fund.
I've got less than $5k in my car and it makes 365 rwhp on the dyno.
Granted mine is a better than average situtaion because I got my heads done real cheap, but it's still well below what Lingenfelter wants for the same power.
Now the drawback is that Lingenfelter is probably still emissions legal which my car isn't. There are a variety of ways to make horsepower. Personally I can't pay somebody $400 for a camshaft when I can get one for $180 and install it myself. People have been building performance cars for decades, it doesn't need a name, it just needs the right parts.
Now if you'd like I'll do the same mods to your car and I'll give you a warranty, just count on a 200% markup on all the parts. Just contact NPR (Nathan Plemons Racing)

Re: Lingenfelter (freddie)
Thanks for all the info.
I recently moved to TX so I'll be able to get away with a few more performance mods.
Thanks again
Pat
Depending on where you moved in Texas, there are a few shops. In Houston you have MTI, and there is now 21st century which is a spawn of of LPE in Dallas.
