Looking for idea's on gaining some HP for my Vette. What mod's should I be looking at.

Right now the car is stock. I do believe however, there is some type of mod that has been done to the tranny. It's got a crazy shift into second. Squawks the tires shifting into second when I get on it a little.

I am picking up a K & N filter today and will change the plugs as I believe they have been in there for a very long time.

Any suggestions on what I should do next?

Thanks.

I asked the same question when I joined.
Some will laugh at you.

There is minimal HP gains to be had on an L98 motor without actually diving into it and spending $$

However those minmal HP gains are there if you want them.

Folks on here have told me the L98 motor is badly choked.

New exhaust from manifold back will help. Dump the Catalytic converter if you can.

Port and polish Throttle body, intake plenum and runners. Hi Flow Air filter. Do the coolant bypass on the throttle body since you have to remove it to port and polish it.

I am told that's about as much as you can do without a new cam, and reprogramming the ECM.

" 'Money buys speed' how fast do you want to go!" No "smog" a long term test of cat converter with test pipe would help. Long tubes, better heads, cam, ported intake all help. You do want to have a plan of what to what your goals are and budget. Shoe string budgets rarely workout well. Mismatched mods can lead to reliability troubles

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Put in the K & N yesterday. Didn't really add much in speed, but the car sounds like its running a little smoother. Going to change the plugs in a day or two. A couple of them look really rough.
