I am getting ready to try to repair the leaky fuel hose on my 85 and thought I would change the fuel filter while I am there as well. I am not sure though if I need to be concerned about pressure in the line while doing this - beyond battery disconnect, do I need to worry about relay also? or is there just residual pressure in the feed line that will fade as the line empties?
I do not want to open a line that is going to spray all over the garage until the tank is empty.
I know this is probably a very newbie question - but better safe than sorry.
Worst case there's a schrader valve on the fuel rail put a rag over it and depress it it'll bleed down the pressure. The gas lines are at the top of the tank so it isn't likely to siphon after you bleed the pressure down beyond what sits in the lines.
Best to have a very low fuel level in the tank. It WILL siphon out the supply line to the fuel filter! Good idea to relieve the pressure in the fuel line before removing the filter. Remove the fuel cap to be sure there is no pressure in the fuel tank.

I guess I did not pick the best time to put gas in the car - I had just put about 5 gallons or so in while I was out on a short trip - when I came back is when I first noticed any leak - -
