Default sway bars/suspension

I have standard sway bars/suspension in my '89 convertible, and am looking to upgrade by fitting Z51 sway bars and upgradied Bilsteins. I am wondering whether it is necessary to get the heavier Z51 springs as well. Does anyone have experience of fitting only Z51 sway bars and upgraded Bilsteins, but not springs?

Try a search...several people (including me) run Z51/Z07 bars on FE1 springs.

Part numbers are on my home page. Cost from GM is near $160 for both! Excellent upgrade.

I have upgraded my shocks and sway bars but decided to leave the springs. The car handles great!! I would not replace the springs at this point as I am concerned about a ride quality. I am not sure about the '89 but the FE1 spring in my 95 is the same as the Z51 used in 96. should tell you something.
