Has anyone already performed this installation on lt1 engine?
Would ask if it would possible to make it just using car ramps on rear end, and if necessary a little pair or ramps on front end.
Thanks chris
I did mine with the front wheels up on ramps and the rear wheels; actually I think the lower shock mounts supported by jack stands.
to make the job easier get a couple small jacks to hold everything up, the complete exhaust system, in place where you want it befor starting to tighten the various clamps
It also seems to me one side, the passenger side to the rear of the passenger side cat was a little long and had to be trimmed; other than that it was pretty much a no brainer...IF you get everything in place first,
I used a similar jack on mine when I did the exhaust. I expect any floor jack could be set up to balance the exhaust on it (or secure the exhuast to the jack). The picture shows where the balance point is.
When I did mine, I supported the exhaust with the jack and rolled it in or out under the back of the car. It went pretty well doing it myself with that method.
PS. Take a look at the good looking '85 in post 6. I had that car for over 25 years.
I did a corsa installation on my 96, myself, w/o help. rear of the car on ramps (my ramps will get the bottom of the car approximately 18 inches off the ground), front held up by jacks (with safety locks and jack stands). I dropped the stock exhaust down in one piece, first by unbolting at the engine, and while supporting the weight, unbolted the mid hangers and muffler hangers, and carefully lowering the one-piece assembly. corsa installation was easier, since it's in several sections, but i did spend a lot of time on getting a perfect alignment.
I ramped car on rear only, and i've got clearance on all parts. Driver side cat bolts i've easily got it from the side of car.
I've tried to unbolt all bolts. No problem exept for driver side cat. I've got them out with heat. No other way than propane torch will work, cause there was a lot of rust on them... So be carefully is a nice idea to avoid to damage them
At the moment i've not a 15mm deep socket to unbolt the top one bolt from the cat driver side. So i will need to buy it. D
Did you make it (top one driver side cat)with 15 mm deep scocket?
I've tried with whrench but it is impossible

Did mine on jack stands also, take your time once they are tightened up drive it around a few day and readjust if needed. when I was happy with the fit went by a muffler shop and had them welded so I could remove them in one assembly. Good luck

it's been 5 or 6 year now, so I don't remember the details. I do remember un-bolting the cat, and having to rock the exhaust system to un-do the slip joint. my 96 only had about 25K miles, and it was fairly rust free. as I recall, it came apart without much effort.

Hard to say I had a complete P&P done, tune Long tube headers and Corsa. Went from 326rwhp to 424rwhp. was told the cats only effect it by 2-5 rwhp. but I had to have them until this year. This is an LT5.
Just I've failed to get the right alignment...I don't get how to do it...if I push muffler all the way in hanger... Somewhere a pipe will not well inserted in..,
Can you split the difference, move one in a bit and the other out a bit? How do you like the sound?
Will try to do it. Just what is a right alignment in this case? Chrome tips equally stick out from rear bumper? I thought instead there was more something about center muffler and head pipes? I Don't get it.
Sound seems to be good. I say "seems" cause inside cabin even w/o t-top it is not so much louder, so I don't have yet it appreciate from the outside.
Anyway if I'm inside tunnel or in the downtown (between builds) Pushing on throttle I can hear a nice sound fron walls echo

There's another problem alignment apart.
Center muffler touch diff. I don't remember if stock exhaust touches too, as far as I remember I would say no.
