performance chip (85 vette)?
Is there any aftermarket performance chips that are worthwhile? Is a custom burned one the only way to go with minimal mods? I'm considering going to offbrand(ford) #24 injectors, will I need to change chip? All other mods, are the freebies! TIA! :cheers:

Your mods do not require a reprogram. You dont have to change chip if youre only going up to #24s.
I would hold off on chips until you decided you were done with mods, or you changed the cam. If you want the fan to come on sooner, you can try emailing C. Marcho (Marcho Polo on the forum, hes a Moderator in the ECM section) and see if he will burn you one, or get a fan switch and wire it to the main fan.

As posted before, going to the stock 24# injectors wont need a chip.. Nor do you mods I think... Hell, I am going to try going with the stock chip instead of the chip I have in my '85 now, to see if my too rich running condition is fixed that way..

I can tell you my chip-stock chip experience with my '85 4+3, with almost the exact same mileage and the same mods at that time except the throttle body bypass. Got a chip from Ed Wright (Fastchip), and when installed the vehicle would idle real high off of highway driving, and I'd have to hit the gas to get it to settle down (TPS was fine). Sent it back for recalibration, (he thought it was my car, which I knew it wasn't) and before I put the fastchip back in I decided to test the chips by power in the upper RPM band of 1st gear and throttle response. I know about the rev restrictions, and all I was looking for was throttle response and pull up to 4000rpms. More SOTP with the fastchip than stock is what I felt and improved throttle response off the line, all this at a coolant temp below 170 degrees for both chip tests. :seeya
