Default ABS code 76

So i got Service ABS light to come yesterday on my way to a track day. I think i recall the condition that may have made it come on, since i felt some ABS action going on. Anyways, after parking car and running at the track, no light on, and it seemed to be working ok. Tonight found code 76 in memory, which is a fault for the Lateral Accelerometer.

So what i tried to do was clear the code per my FSM, by ground/ungrnd 3 times within 10secs. And i could not get it to clears. Tried several times. Is there any special trick to this? I have a manual PB switch connected to the correct terminals, and used a digital stop watch. I recall clearing the SIR codes was also trickey.......

Wow, lots of lookers but no help? I still could not get it to clear. Guess i will just have to wait for 100 ign on/off cycles, then it will clear..........

It can be tricky. You need to ground and unground at 2 second intervals three times and then cycle the key off. Then turn on and enter diagnostic mode to check and see if the code has cleared . Typically on a code 76, the pendulum in the lateral accelerometer becomes stuck in one position and doesn't move freely. You can remove it, then whack it against the side of your hand going each way. That will free up the pendulum.

Ok, thanks for the tip. I was trying for 1sec grd/ungrd within 10seconds. I will try it again this weekend. But now i also got a code 71 thrown in. Have not driven or started car, so maybe the battery was low. I just want to reset them and drive car, see if they come back. I have had the radio out before, but not the accel. Not that hard to get to.

Success!! got the codes to reset tonight. Seemed like i needed to go faster with ground/ungrounding, like maybe 1 sec intervals. So i will run the car for while and see if the codes come back. Then maybe pull the accel and give it a love tap!
