I haven't a clue, and know very little about calculating "interference" dimensions, but i'd say "good luck" pressing anything at .020, even with the hot/cold thing, but then again, i'm no expert. if I had to guess, i'd say .003-.005, but, there's too many variables. I would think the dimensional tolerance (OD) of the low cost mevotech joints differs from any better quality ball joint, and that in itself would add to any potential "fit" problems. maybe the .020 mevotech thing is a typo, and should be .002 - to me, that would make more sense.
I just spotted the OP's post in the other section also.

I always thought LBJ "press-fit" was based upon the taper in degrees likely, I would think being a "tool & die" guy the OP might get it and be able to measure appropriately what he's got in the bore and also likely the old LBJ. I haven't done control arm projects in years and product we used was never questioned.
I'd think he could report back with numbers that could maybe be considered a "guide" as to "out of box" what to check and expect.
The stud taper should be checked and confirmed also I'd think.
MOOG I believe does OS (over-size) for some but I don't believe I've ever seen an OS spec for an aluminum LCA/LBJ.
