My wife uses our '88 Vette as her daily driver. Over the years she has gotten to know every little sound that car makes. She mentioned to me that twice this week she heard a distinct "pop" through the exhaust when she started it. The car had sat all day. There are no other indications of a problem. It recently passed its smog check. It gets about 25 MPG on the highway (at 70 MPH). The engine has never been opened up (except to replace intake manifold gaskets). For such a high mileage car, this stock Vette runs very strong.
All 8 injectors are original with over 167,000 miles on them. The entire ignition system was completely overhauled about a year ago (new wires, rebuilt distributor, etc.).
Have any of you had a similar experience? I'm suspecting that one of the injectors are leaking or sticky.
