holy moly what kind of sorcery is needed to jack a 1993 convertible off of the ground. Buy the corvette with the body kit they said, it'll be fun they said. Trying to get at the tranny but unfortunately I need more than 7 inches of ground clearance to fit under this thing.
Any tips or tricks please? Like how the heck would you even go about changing a tire without bending something vital under the car?
I usually have to lift it a little on the side to get a floor jack under the cross-member to raise the front of the car. Once that's accessible, I use the floor jack to raise is up and support the car on jack-stands. There are threads and videos on where to put them. I also have some blocks I put on the of the jack-stands to spread the pressure around the pinch welds on the support area of the car.
Same basic process for the rear except I use the Gadgetman Jack adapter to lift it via the batwing.
Put a jack under the mirror on the pinch weld. Jack one side of the car up and place jackstands at the jacking points or in front where the frame curves. Do the same with the other side. The car should be up in 3 minutes.

...and how do you jack it up, under the mirror, without damaging the rocker covers???
:toe tap.
sometimes the smc rocker cover gets pushed out by the metal lift plate of the jack....
ive cracked mine before but now have refinished rocker covers id like to keep nice
The seam of the frame rail should protrude beyond the SMC/rocker panel. If it doesn't, you can rotate your jack pad so that the raised tabs align w/the seam, but don't hit the SMC/rocker panel. If none of that works or an aftermarket body kit is in the way, I'd suggest moving the jack forward some (8" maybe?) and inward to hit the frame rail where it bends inward. Jack there, you'll get about the same results.
Thanks for all of the replies. I suppose I was hoping to find a way to jack it without removing the body kit. Found some nice home made Ramps on another forum that I think I'll make yet

I made ramps from wood but in 2 pieces.the ramp itself to get it up on 8x8's once the tires are up on the 8x8's,remove the ramp, that way you can slide under the car with out the ramp in the way.
this is the daughters grand am.needed it up to get to the heater core hoses. After it was up I just kept jacking & added more wood as I went along
Did about the same with the old 78/hurst instal, headers, duel conversion etc. y pipe instal on the 85,muffler removal, resonator install etc.
As you can see I keep a lot of wood for various projects/lol
Im thinken about maken a air bag lift next, gota bring 1 home from work & see if its feasable.
that's what i do in work besides other things, the double bellow bag should work if it fits.
I never jack from the pinch weld, just doesn't seem right lifting the car from there.
I lift just in front of the pinch welds were the frame curves and I lift just behind the rear pinch weld on what looks to be either the frame or a sturdy bracket.
I use the quick jack which makes it so so easy, then put jack stands on the a arms just in case.
