I wanted to start this thread before I get too involved with it and to also keep track of my progress. So a week ago I picked up a 1994 Corvette with a zf6 speed for dirt cheap. The car had been sitting for 7 years due to a "bad clutch" which turned out to be a failed slave cylinder. So before I started into fixing the slave I wanted to get it started and make sure I was dealing with a mechanically sound engine. I did the preventative things, Replaced the fuel filter, blew the lines out, removed all the old nasty gas, and bench tested the fuel pump. the fuel pump was a dead soldier. Which I expected, so installed a new fuel pump, threw in a new battery and turned the key, I got nothing at the fuel pump, no power, so I tested fuse and found continuity across the fuse. OK, so I said to hell with it and I jumped the pump power and ground straight to a jumper pack and the car started right up. Now here is the weird part. while the car is running it has 14.2 volts at the fuel pump connector........ What the hell.... So I quickly disconnected my jumper pack and plugged the pump back in, then the car proceeded to die seconds later. To me this makes no logical sense. I will admit I have not looked at a wiring diagram for it yet and yes I do know the fuel pump is trigger by the OP switch (which op switch 1 wire or 2 wire admittedly I do not know). However since the pump does not prime it leads me to believe there Is a circuit fault or module fault issue. Has anyone experience this before? I will look at a wiring diagram and pinout tonight to see if I can trace the issue down..
When you turn the key on without turning it over it should run for two seconds you will here it. If not look at fuses fuseable links behind the battery and your fuel pump relay. I believe it will still start once you get a few lb of oil pressure.
Welcome to the forum!!!!!

Thanks!, well the fuse is good, at on the fuse panel on the passenger side of the car, for the life of me I cannot figure out what relay is for the fuel pump. I was thinking it may be a VATS concern, but the car cranks which leads me to believe its something else...

It is not the vats if it is cranking. I believe the relay is under the dash. Someone will be along if I am wrong. Will it start if you crank it a bit longer?
