I am getting ready for a heads/cam upgrade. Should I use LT1- Edit or Ed Wright for my pcm programming? Would LT1-Edit be too complicated for a novice tuner?
LT1 edit will cost you a lot less in the long run. Just start conservative and ask plenty of questions from the people in the tuning section. You'll learn a lot more as well ;)
Unless you have great doubts about your common sense (making gradual changes, rather than a wholsale list of changes at a time), then go with the LT1Edit. As good as Ed Wright is, he can't exactly dial in your car long distance - no two cars with the "same" mods will respond the same to fuel and spark curves. Let me put it this way, my Rocket was using a respected tuner, via mailing pcm back and forth. It was seriously out of emissions compliance. With LT1Edit I made a decent increase in power, but more importantly it now burns cleaner than when it was new!
Besides, if you go through the trouble of installing an extra bung for a wide band O2 sensor, then you can do some serious tuning, very specific to YOUR car, while you are doing dyno pulls.

I would have to agree with the other guys. I currently have the Tuner Cat software, and it is very straight forward to use. Before I had the Tuner Cat software, I had a custom Ed Wright chip($350), and I was not pleased at all. I am now about 30rwhp more than my old Ed Wright chip.(if that tells you anything) There are plenty of people on the forum that do there own programming, so if you have a question, just ask. :seeya
