I've read somewhere that there is a difference between early and late model Dana-36's. Can anybody help me out? I just want to be sure that the unit I recieved will bolt in before I tear the car apart.

Thanks,

Prior to '88 (I think it was '88), the bolt holes in the differential case and rear cover, where the camber rod brackets bolt on, were a smaller diameter than the later ones -- this is true of both the Dana 36 and the Dana 44.
I put a '87 Dana 44, with 3.07 gears, in my '92 A4, and I had to drill the holes larger for my '92 camber rod brackets.
I don't know if it is true of the Dana 36, but the early Dana 44's case is different than the later Dana 44's in other aspects -- but, this difference doesn't affect bolting it in -- one example is the pinion yoke and pinion yoke seal, they are different.
Thanks for the reply. That is kind of what I remembered reading. I knew it had something to do with the camber rod brackets. I'll look at the yokes and pinon seal tonight.
