Hello all. I've left my 93 vette with a friend that works at GM in service. My intent was to repair a issue with the column where it was loose and when you pulled down, it would shift toward 7 o clock about 2 inches. I left them with a new aluminum tilt knuckle assuming that was the problem. It has taken them two days of messing with it, and they requested a few parts in addition to that (which was not broken they said). They wanted GM part # 5694191, 7844651, and the last one that we cant seem to find is 26059718. The pic that comes up when you google the last number is not what they need. The part they need looks like a bearing race or cap, but is notched or similar in profile to a castelated nut. . It is the second item up in the picture.
The number that you mention having a tough time finding I'd think dealers "local" to me would have. Maybe not now because it's an older style Saginaw column but I've bought it before along with what you've bought. I likely have what you need in some column parts.
Where are you located?
The 26059718 "theoretically" if packaged correctly would give you these numbers in this image.
#13 the spring seat (in your snapshot), #14 the race for the upper bearing (in your snapshot), #39 the pivot pins, #50 the guide, #51 the spring and #52 the retainer for the tilt compression spring. 7844651 will give you a pair of the bearings (in your snapshot) + other misc parts, the 5694191 is the wire retainer (in your snapshot).
Top to bottom in your snapshot (less the busted bearing) is bearing race, the spring seat and the retainer. You've got a pair of the busted bearings already I'd think. I'd think there was a bearing race also in the 7844651 likely. Was there?
I have, and sent pictures. im awaiting a response now. Its so aggravating to not know what exactly is needed as i have not seen the parts in person. i wish id done the job myself, but the VATS system and the airbag scared me off. I figured it would be a 3.1 hour job as the "book" suggests.
yes it is!! I was only trying to answer your questions. I believe it has in it what I mentioned it should too!!
I would think a dealer should be able to supply it in a day, maybe two at the most. It does seem to have a hefty price these days. If you've already ordered or have the other part #'s yes there's some repetitive content, if you haven't you just need a very experienced guy to get you the minimum number of part #'s that will give you what you need.
That's why I always mention shopping "LOCAL" for nearly everything.

Hope you get this fixed. Please share how this turns out and what they did to fix it. I have a similar issue with my 96. I am going to attempt the repair myself.
