Presuming someone has a button for their nitrous, do they just hold down the button or click it once to go on, and once to go off  Its always baffled me :D
The safest way to use nitrous is to have a wot switch. You use a toggle or push button switch to ARM the system. And then the WOT (wide open throttle) switch activates the noids and lets the fuel and nitrous do its thing. Add a window switch (only allows activation between certain rpms) upgrade your electronics and add a progressive controller (meters the flow of nitrous and fuel depending on what you program..) add a better fuel pump and a bottle heater and remote opener..and off you go as safely as possible. DO NOT JUST HOOK A SWITCH TO THE NOID!! never never never never...That is unless you want to rebuild your motor...
total cost to be safe around 1600 or so...roughly..ebay is a good place to save a few bucks..
also make sure not to spray too much 100 or so for stock internals...could go to 150 depending on safety gear..
Some people do use just a button for activation. It is generally a momentary switch that they have to hold down.
I personally have a WOT switch and a RPM Window switch for activation because trying to hold down the button and drive is the last thing I want to be thinking about.
What if your powerband is below WOT, like on a L98 car, the power drops steeply at around 5000 RPM. Can you get programmable switches to have it turned on at certain RPMs?
WOT just means you have your foot to the floor. It is RPM independant. But yes, the RPM Window switch will turn it on and off at specified RPMs. Mine is set for 3100 - 6100. You do not want to hit the Nitrous below 3000 rpms.
