Security system engaged
Ok, ive had the front of my car on the ramps for the last month while replacing the opti. When i got in the car today the security system was flashing. The headlights tried to turn on for some reason - not sure this is relevent but it happened so I'm mentioning it. I tried unlocking the ds door with the key twice to get it to turn off. It would shut off when i put the key in the ignition also. Unfortunately the car will not start, doesn't even appear to have power now with key in on position.
I tried the search on here and i tried the manual with no luck. Battery shows charged.
Any suggestions for my 92 vette?

Pull the bolts out of the battery cables and clean it up good and fully charge the battery. If no go load test the battery. Still no go cheak the other end of the cables and the cables themselves.

Ok, cleaned off both battery terminals.
As soon as i open the drivers door the security loght starts flashing and a clicking noise comes from around the radio somewhere. No power to the car comes on. When i try to release the rear deck for the convertible top it makes some clicking noises but won't release it. Lights dont come on, no lights on the dash.
I took the car off the ramps so its level again. Still nothing. I'm stumped.

Check the engine side of the battery cables. The negative goes directly to the side of the block above the oil filter. The positive cable attaches to the starter solenoid.

Ok, it was the battery. Dam thing was new in june 2015, worked fine 6 weeks ago when i parked it to do this work. I just couldn't see the obvious. It's also the first battery ive ever taken in and the meter at the parts store didn't register anything - battery was totally dead. Awesome troubleshooting guys!
