Default Intermittent code 42

So today I replaced the fuel filter on my 84. Afterward I started my car and everything seemed good, so I put it in drive an after i'd gone a mile or so I got the check engine light.

pulled over and checked the code, it was 42. I checked under the hood and the EST connector was connected.

When i started it backup there was no light, and after id rolled a few feet it came back

car idles fine and accelerates well as expected, so I think the spark advance is fine. It has 12 degrees static advance, if that makes any difference.

Any idea what the issue is here? the fsm seemed to indicate it could be a malfunctioning ecm or HEI module

Default

Checked the timing with and without the EST connector today, as the fsm instructs. At 2000 rpm it sits at 28 degrees advance with the EST, and without the EST its around 12 degrees, as expected.

This confirms that its apparently a false code, but how can I make it stop?
