I had a '99 T/A and if I recall you had to "gut" the system to change it to aftermarket (4 ohms vs 8 ohms I believe).
My friend just spent $1400 to install a system and while it was apart the guy installed all his weatherstripping and did a good job. My buddy has a couple of speakers he bought awhile ago (2yrs) and the installer recommended different ones. I'm thinking of buying the old ones from him.
My question is this. When cruising with the wife a rock station on the radio is fine (CD player doesn't work). I'd rather put the money into performance parts
So can I switch out the stock speakers and use the stock head unit? I'm sure the speaker material is 20 years, so I would think the new speakers would sound better and I can have the installer do all the weatherstripping.
Yup...delco/bose gold series. Is that a problem with the bose stuff?
It just means the speakers have amplifiers in them. If you want to go to a standard stereo and speakers you should run new wires to each speaker location.
