OBVIOUSLY i would do that if i could, but there is no return on the tank!
Should i put a small hole in filler hose and run the return in there?
You need to add one to the tank, whatever it takes if you want this to work correctly.

You very well could have blown your FPR and filled your oil with fuel.

There must be an access panel to chage the fuel level sender. Pull it off get it clean and dry of fuel and weld a return fitting there.

ive got it out and waiting till i can get a return in it. there is no fuel coming out of the diaphram in the FPR, but he oil does smell a bit of fuel. It is still very viscous though. I did install a fuel pressure gauge on the input side...... wait for it..... 120+ PSI!

wow, huh? fun fun fun. Good fuel pump I reckon. Guess that means my fuel lines will hold fuel no matter what now since they held 120 psi.

So, im going to install a return into the tank access panel and do you think I should put a FPR inline in addition to the factory one (I have an extra one) in case I've blown it out, or just plumb the way it should be with a return and then check fuel pressure again to see? I think if I have blown the FPR out it should be ok to put one inline before it after the fuel pump to get it to 43.5.

Now i need to figure out after i fix that if I need a MAF or not.

You just discovered why you are running so rich! Since you didn't have a good return line, your FPR wasn't doing anything. You've got to have a good fuel return line for the regulator to route the extra fuel back to the tank!

Don't get creative on this. Do it like the diagram, with an added fuel filter between the tank and the fuel pump, as was recommended! (We are assuming you have an external mounting of your fuel pump. Is that correct?)

Since you are asking about installing a second FPR, that tells me that you still don't understand how the system is supposed to work!! Go back and read the information in that link I gave you.

pump is external, inside frame rail. I have a prefilter before pump because i dont trust that old tank and the possible junk in it.
