So my 1990 c4 (non-zr1) has developed an oil leak coming out of top of oil dipstick tube. I saw a post about this being maybe pvc vavles or possibly worn piston rings. The car doesn't smoke like when oil rings go bad and only leaks oil when high revving rpms under heavy acceleration. I've put a rubber clamped hose on the end of it but it still has small amounts of oil coming out. I want to rebuild over winter but if its something specific others have delt with and found a source I would like to hear about it.
You PCV valve is stopped up.
This causes the crankcase to be pressurized by the blow by gasses.
Replace PCV.
So I replaced the pvc on both heads and still leaking at high rpm?? My engine has 122k miles so maybe a rebuild is needed? Thats my conclusion! Thanks everyone.
check that the line on the passenger side running from valve cover to throttle body is not somehow stopped up. that is the crank vent line
i would let the engine breathe out the dipstick until you find the problem or the air could find the next (possibly more messy) path of least resistance.
