Default Intake questions

There is a guy on cl selling 90 and newer intakes for $50. Is this the coveted "mini ram"? I have a 86 vert, with aluminum heads, no roller cam. Will this manifold work with this motor? Do I need new injectors, or throttle body? Thanks in advance! h

No, it's just a later TPI intake. There is no gain to be had by replacing your TPI intake with a later model. I have a '91 intake on my '86 because it was available & I ported the base and plenum, then swapped them on when the cam went in. A miniram is a whole other animal (and I want one)

Ok, thanks. I thought all tpi's had the big long runners, like mine. Which is why they rend to Peter out after 5k. h

All TPI intakes do have the long tube runners (85-91). The '92 & later LT1 intake will not fit.

Edelbrock no longe makes hi flo runners but have switched over to a mini ram of their own. Seems fairly priced

That is a nice manifold. Very similar looking to the lt1 one this guy is selling.

Seams like I remember reading somewhere that you can use the lt1 intake on earlier motors, you just have to redrill the manifold bolt holes. Have you heard of this? h

LT1s have no distributor hole in back of manifold, and no thermostat housing, they can be retrofitted with a bunch of work but not worth it in my opinion I have the miniram with no regrets, huge improvement
