Default Motor preperation

Well they just took my motor finally in to jasper's to get it rebuilt.
Is there anything that I should be doing while I'm waiting(3-4 weeks) for it to come back?
Thanks

Depends how **** you are...May want to powerwash the motor bay and perhaps paint it up pretty. Maybe recover the wire harnesses, new vacuum hoses.

That's what I did while my engine was in the shop getting the machine work done.

I rented a power washer from Home Deport, taped off all the electrical connectors to prevent water from getting to them and sprayed away. When I ran out of the cleaner I bought, I switched over to dishwashing liquid that has a degreaser and then liquid laundry detergent.

When everything was dry - the next day, I used several cans of black spray paint and shot everything that wasn't aluminum colored.

I used flat black, but color choice is an individual preference.

While waiting, clean everything else too. The throttle body butterflies, intake manifold including the underside. Be sure to remove the oil shield because a lot of burned oil crud accumulates between the oil shield and the underside of the intake.

Check the radiator for cleanliness and if needed, take it to a shop for rodding out and fin straightening.

Just keep this in mind: Do everything that would be a real PIA to do once the engine is reinstalled.

Hope this helps.

Jake

I agree with JAKE clean the crap out of every thing and repaint as needed/desired. It is so much easier to reassemble with all clean stuff.

Sounds great! Why didn't I think of that?
Frist I would like to pull the car out of the garage, but the tranny is being held up buy a jack and the car is still up on four stands.
Any ideas on how to hold the tranny up while I pull it out into the drive way?
