The oil filter screws into a housing, it is held in place by two large
allen head screws. I have minor oil leak which seems to be coming from this housing.
2 questions 1 what is the name of this housing
2 is there anything complex to changing the housing to
engine block gasket.
As always thank for you help

You need a gasket and an o-ring type seal that is generally serviced together in a package. GM# 88893990 for this or an equivalent from any local AP store. You'll have no issues. In the past I believe I've seen comments regarding this package so maybe ask the AP store or a dealer if you visit them. I believe there was maybe 2 different gasket configurations very early on.
There is a gasket between the block and the adapter. The gasket that came with the gasket kit I bought was paper thin. That was part of the issue, the gasket was too thin..or the bolts holding the adapter to the block too long. There have been other threads saying the bolts are too long and bottoming out in the hole before the adapter is snug to the block. I have some thick gasket material so I made a new gasket and have not had a issue since.
There is a rubber "O" ring but this is not the gasket in question.
