I'm installing largre tube runners and thought it would be a good time to re-torque the intake manifold. With those torx bolts its a real pain ...and only possible with the plennum and runners off.
I want to replace them with some ARP twelve points without removing the intake. Does anybody think removing and replacing one bolt at a time will cause any problems?
Re: Changing bolts on intake manifold ?? (HighHopes85)
One at a time won't be a problem, but it would be harder than hell to install the large tubes if all the bolts aren't out of the old ones. ;)
OK let me re-phrase that. I want to replace one bolt at a time in the intake manifold once ALL the bolts are out of the runners and the old runners are off. There thats better. Will this cause a problem with the intake ?

Shoud not be a problem as long as you torque each bolt properly as you replace it. try to start with the #1 bolt and go in sequence. That should eliminate any movement.
However, depending on the age of the old gasket (constant problem with intake gaskets in 'Vettes) why not go the extra mile and replace it? Might be doing yourself a favor and eliminating a future PIA job. Might take you another 2 hours but it would be worth it.

The gaskets are new, I just built the engine last year, no leaks. I was going to change the bolts just for future access and because I could get to them now. I should have used new bolts when I originally installed it and was trying to make up for that now - :bb
I've decided to just re-torque and change the bolts out when and if I have to take the thing apart to change the gasket.
