Can someone here please help me? I just bought my first C4 today and I am trying to bypass the heater core, as I know it is in need of replacement. I bought the 3/4" to 5/8" piece to connect the hoses. However, I still have a small run of coolant coming out of one of the pipes from the heater core. I have done this before previously with a '91 Z-71. What am I doing wrong here? Please help. I've heard jokes already, just looking for help. Thanks.

What year model? Define "small run" and when does it happen? All the time? Only when car is running? Could it be just a small amount of coolant still draining out?

Not calling you a liar or crazy but how is it possible? According to you, the core is bypassed. If it wasn't, it won't be a small run. The only thing I can think of is someone is trying to "gaslight" you or it is residual coolant. If you don't know, I would flush the core with water. I have dogs around so I am sensitive to coolant since it can cause problems in animals. Also if there is coolant after you flush it, you need to investigate it.
BTW, why did you bypass it originally? I don't think it can pool up in the heater box and come back.
If the hoses were taken off the core and looped together there should be no way any new coolant can get to the core, only residual coolant. Try taking a short piece of hose to one heater core connection and hook an air source to it and another piece of hose to a bucket and see if you can blow out as much of the residual coolant out of the core as you can.
Based on pictures of the heater core, the connectors are on top so there's a good chance that there is coolant still in it once the hoses are removed. Might even be able to syphon out the fluid to some extent if you're good or lucky.
