Anyone here running true duals? I do not have to pass emissions, so I would like to put on a set. I'd like to go with 3" if possible, or at least
2 1/2". What size are you running, any clearance problems down through the center of the car? Who has true duals available without cats? What are the muffler eliminators? If anyone has pics of any of the above, I'd love to check them out. :D Thanks.
I have Muffler elims w/ 3 inch pipes back from center muffler. Had the original tips welded back on to the new pipes. Still have cats. I love them and they sound mean.
these things are really hard to create for a C4 i was making kits for awhile but they only fit the manual cars easily. the automatic cars are so tight under the car you basically have to have a jig spot on every time & pray it's going to line up. what's worse is the headers that are manufactured also vary to a small degree. and on top of the engine placement varies, when i installed my new engine & switched my mounts around i moved the exhaust nearly 1/2" one direction. you can see how all these variables make exhaust work somewhat of an art. the best headers for the C4 are TPIS, Lingenfelter and Hooker 2149's or 2151's don't consider any others period. the MAD duals are made for manifolds, not long tubes. if you go down to a muffler shop & want to bend some tubes here's what you can do keep in mind these angles will only fit a manual car, if you have an auto you really need to test fit !!
Passenger side
Front tube
Bend 1 5-3/4” 7deg 0 pipe rotation
Bend 2 16-1/4” 25deg 180 pipe rotation
24” overall length, remember to add collector length
mid tube 42” overall, no bends
rear tube
bend 1 9” 75deg 0 pipe rotation
bend 2 21” 65deg 185 deg pipe rotation 27-1/2” overall
Drivers side
Front tube
Bend 1 9” 5deg 0 pipe rotation
Bend 2 21” 17deg 180 deg pipe rotation
29” overall remember to add collector inches
mid tube 36” overall, no bends
rear tube
bend 1 10” 75deg 0 pipe rotation
bend 2 22” 65deg 175 deg pipe rotation
28-1/2” overall length
I had a local muffler shop fabricate mine. 2 1/2" true duals with muff elims. They cut the front y before the y and welded the new pipes in and ran them all the way back with no cats and no muffs. I love it. They did it all for about $175. I couldn't beat that price with a stick. I want to go with power effects when finances allow me too, but for now they sound mean. There is a lot of resonance but I have learned to live with it with the radio turned up. The only time it bothers me is when I have the hatch vent in and I am driving for 2 or more hours at a time which is rare. Good Luck!
I have true dual exhaust (NO Y pipe or Cats) with Borlas (ZR-1 Tips). I got both from MAD. The Stainless dual exhaust was $300 Part # 603-492. They are only 2 1/4" though, so keep that in mind.
I did not put it on, but I've saw it on the lift and didn't notice any clearance probs and I have a Vert with the X brace.
:flag
I have the 21/2" true duals from MAD fit is perfect, i would buy it again if i wanted one for a vette. It is loud even with mufflers and i get a lot of res @ 1600 rpm  but apart from that i am really pleased with it, looks factory. :D
Thanks guys. My exhaust is getting bad, so I want to change it now and worry about headers later. I think I'll go with 3" as I do have a manual trans. I'm going to make it and install it myself. I still have some of the auger style muffler from my stock car days, and I think I'm going to try 'em on the vette! :D They tend to be loud, but with a very deep tone! Maybe the ricers will think it's a big block! once again, thanks to all of your input.
A bit of advice. I've had several combinations of exhaust on my car before I settled on this combo. I have shorty headers, 2.5"true duals and muffler elims, no cats. I also had the local shop install an H-pipe under the trans. Thats the key. The H-pipe made all the difference in the world. It got rid of 99% of my resonance and made it sound much deeper instead of so shrill. Get an H-pipe!!!

i just had a muffler shop set me up with a 3inch system from the headers back. used the stock LT1 hangers (thanks to jeff kopp, i have the part numbers if anyone wants). i was upgrading from a 2.5inch system that was bent incorrectly and didn't fit at all :mad he put in an H-pipe, and it eliminated 99% of the resonance.
I have a 92 Vette and I will me in stalling muffler eliminators. The question I have is that my mufflers are welded from the factory, so where did I cut them?

Line up your eliminators under the stock mufflers and position them so the tips are directly below where you want them. Then you can see where the other end of the eliminator will be. Allow extra pipe to overlap the eliminator when it is inserted so that there is something to clamp on. If in doubt cut it with a little extra pipe remaining. You can test fit and can cut again if needed, but it you can't add more pipe if it is cut too short (without more pipe or adapters).

when you get the eliminators it will be clear. They are flared on the end..hold them up where you want them and make a mark then cutr them just a little shorter than the flared part. Easy as pie.
