shocks for '85

shocks for '85
hey everyone
I am looking to get new shocks for my 1985 standard and was hoping to find some opinions to help with the purchase - it will only be used on the street as at least for now - I do not have any track ambitions
there seems to be quite a range from billsteins, kyb, gm's own. currently I noticed the po put on Monroe -
I know it's a vette and I want it to act like one - but I also know that I do not want to break the bank and gt racing is not calling my name
does any of that make sense?
any help would be greatly appreciated

does anyone know what the ride difference would be between these or others?
I am sure some are firmer than others - there does tend to be a fair difference in price with some - not that that is the only factor -
as most people want the best part at best price for your application

I had Bilsteins in the past, they ride firm. My KYBs are softer and more for spirited cruising than racing. Koni adjustables can do both.
I'd recommend Bilstein however.

Considering it was my fault that oil fumes were blowing on it and the idea that the vette shocks were 10 years old. I'd say. 1 vette shock was leaking and they had me send both for a look see. I think they didn't do anything. Within 2 hours of the arrival, there was a new box on the way to me. I doubt they checked anything other than to replace what was there with new ones

C4's are noted for their ride being a touch harsh. The later years softened up the spring rates that took the edge off when cruising. The earlier years have higher spring rates. Using cheap KYBs and the like will not match well (dampen) with these springs.
Bilsteins had properly matched their valving to work with these spring rates to offer a good compromise of handling and ride. No "racing" or "track" options. Just good overall performance.

I was looking at summit racing - these are the part numbers the site search gave - though I would double check
