Hi guys. Just purchased a 85 and drove it to the house. The following day I noticed that many of the fuses are not the correct amperage. I replaced them with the proper ones. Now the verte will not crank. Any suggestions?
Just charged the battery and its holding a 12.9 volt charge. Still the starter does nothing.
Give us something. Does the dash light up and noises lights and horn work. Turn the headlights on and turn the key do they dim? We cannot see it from here.

Hard to say. Is the starter getting a signal to start? If not, we don't know what we are dealing with. Could be the power to the starter or it isn't getting a signal. Start with checking for solenoid signal and we can go from there.
Ok the dash lights up. The radio works. The headlights work. The wipers work. I'm going to check the starter selenoid next. But I'm going to work today and it will be a few days before I can work on the car again.

Don't care. You see, it takes very little power to make them work. OTOH, a starter, well..... Kinda like watching **** and "working" with a girl. One doesn't take much effort and anyone can do. The other takes more work.
Seriously, the issue is that there are many steps and we have to eliminate them one by one. If the starter solenoid is not getting the signal, maybe it is the neutral safety switch or rarely the VATS. We would follow the signal line in that way. If it gets the signal, we have a different issue. It might be the solenoid is shot or the starter motor or the power line
If you get power at the starter jump the big wire to the little one it will crank and scare the **** out of you. Then smack the starter and see if it will start. With the key turned on with out cranking do you hear the fuel pump run for two seconds? If not try your other key might be vats. Try this first.
Finally replaced the starter and the starting problem is solved. I had the instrument cluster repaired by Batee and it looks great. However, I have not been able to find the connection from the tach filter to the cluster. Does anyone have a picture of the connection location?

Am I reading things correct? It took you a little over two years to replace a starter?
I did several other repairs, but those worked out. I had the windshield replaced but it was improperly aligned and had to come off and go back on properly.
