Upper Control Arm Install Question
I have another thread going with my front suspension rebuild but thought a new post would get more attention for a specific qeustion.
I have two questions on UCA install that the FSM seems vague on.
First, I reinstalled the shims on the bolts hat hold the aluminum shaft to the chassis where I thought they came out. The concave thick washers that snug up to the aluminum shaft are all the same except one which is thicker, can any one confirm that this thicker one should be the front inboard one? Installed, the arm is cocked outward at the front. Is that normal? Hopefully you can see what I'm talking about in the pic below.
Second, I installed poly bushings. There's not torque spec in the FSM for the large nuts on the aluminum shaft. I torqued both to 90 ft lbs. with the UCA on the car (steering knuckled not installed yet) it takes considerable force to move the UCA up and down. I'd guess between 75-100 lbs of effort. Is that normal? Or did I over torque and it's binding? Also as the UCA moves up and down the large washers in contact with the bushings do not rotate but rather the face of the bushing slides against them, sound right? The bushings do not rotate in the bore of the UCA which I know they should not. Just wondering if the washers should rotate with the bushing or not?

Big concave washer goes in front inboard side. I also pulled the control arm back out, took the big nuts off, greased washers and bushing faces, reinstalled at 85 ft lbs and it's a lot easier to move the UCA through its range of motion.
