Default fx3 an z51?

To some of you, this might sound like a stupid question, but i will ask just so i can reassure myself. As far as i know, i completely understand the whol z52/51/fx3 stuff. The z52 is the heavy duty suspension, the z51 is the performance handling one, and the fx3 is adjustable. Oh, an yes im talking about early c4's :) Anyway, my question is, what is the difference between the z51 an fx3's. I know the fx3 shocks have the actulators (SP?), an can be set for soft or hard, just curious what else falls under that. Are the springs the same? any info would be appreciated :) thanx

I could be wrong, but I believe that fx3 is only the adjustable shocks. The other packages (Z5#) dictate the springs/bars/bushings.
This chart may be of some use...

In any case, I have the z51 and fx3 on my '89, so I'll be interested to hear the replies.

Z51= Highest rate Springs, Shock Valving, Sway Bars(besides Challenge cars).

Z52= is one step down from Z51 package, in all rates.

FX3= My 89 has FX3 which only came with the Z51 option, although the Engineers at Chevy used the Z52 Springs & Sway Bars.
Kind of confusing!

Z51 option limited to manual transmissions also included heavy duty cooling -- big deal right ?

Z51 & FX3 - I understand they used the lighter spring rates with this combination so that the shocks would have more of an effect on the suspension.

This link to the Corvette Action Center is a table of 84-96 suspension components and availability for each model year. At the bottom is an index of the various shocks available with each suspension option.
http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...usp_chart.html

It appears to be the same chart that Silver89 shows, but I don't know if it's any more current that that one.
