84's dont have an L98 but it should be 6-3/4 as mentioned.Even this size is close to the frame.
If in doubt, use a measure tape.Take off the pulley and measure it across.
Btw,If you need a new balancer, dont just buy any for your car.Make sure its for your particular year...many catalog companies sell new balancers but the timing mark and keyway may differ.
That was the case for my 86...Even GM performance parts sold balancers for 350 engines but the timing line was different on my car and I had to pay more.I couldnt use their advertised balancer for SBC 350's.

OMG. I did not know this. I am putting a whole new (non-Corvette) engine in. Will I still need a "Corvette only" balancer?? It is a 6 3/4" balancer, but it's nothing fancy.
Dtor,
You should be fine with the balancer you have...when using another balancer and etc, just compare the timing mark to they keyway location on both balancers and make note of it.
That way you wont go crazy trying to time the engine again if needed during a tune up or something.Thats why i stated to get the same balancer if possible to avoid any problems.
