Tire Size for my new wheels. 18x10 fronts 18x11 Rears. To square or not to square
I am not sure what tire size to buy for my Daily Driven/HPDE C4. I have heard that the c4 likes a square tire setup. I can do 315's out back on the 11 but tire rack specs the 315 on a minimum 10.5in rim...which I don't have up front.
Should I:
1) Stagger the tires 315 out back 295 up front.
2)Go for a square 295/(35? or 40?)/18 all around
3) Square 315/35/18's and plop a 315 on the 10 in rim. eff the .5 inch difference.
Leave your 2 cents here.

it would help a lot to know a little more than you're looking at something for a Corvette. That's like asking who should I marry? May be a good question but impossible to answer without more info.

Ok, well I enjoy long drives along the beach and hikes after a canyon cruise at Sunset.
Its daily driven here in sunny socal. I take it to HPDE events when I can(*wishfull thinking. I do AutoX and canyons. HPDE duty is extremely minimal.*) but it is mostly canyon cruising or commuting. I will autocross on the regular here at Adams Raceway in Riverside.
Again the wheels are 18x10 +45 and 18x11 +54.
I am looking for input on tire size relative to the wheel widths I have available.
I was thinking of going 315's on all 4 corners like the people running A molds but I only have a 10 in rim up front. There is also a price premium going from 295 to 315.

315's in the front will really hurt your turn in. You'll have WAY more tire up front than needed.
The C4 likes a square setup, but if you are to the point where you need 315's out back, that may be moot.
A lot depends on how competitive you want to be at hpde or autocross. Tires for those two are NOT the same.
I'd probably run staggered. 315's up front seems absurd.

Well Id say it is autocross and DD duty not HPDE. Any HPDE would be just for fun and I don't do a lot of it.
Yeah 315's up front are absurd!

Here's a web site that may be useful to you: https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?whe...cl=50mm&sr=0mm
Plug in your existing tires and rims on the one side and what you want on the other and see what it comes up with. I used it in switching from 16" rims to 18" and wanted tires that fit like the originals did.
Went from 16x9.5 +38 with 255x50zr16's to 18x9.5 +40's with 255x40zr18's and their fit just like the originals did. Mines an 86 so I have different backspacing than others have, but worked out well. Worth taking a look.

Mine is a 95 Z07 so it came square as you put it with 17 x 9.5 wheels and 275x40 on all 4 corners.
Let me say right up front that I don't race my car so I'm not going to comment on that aspect at all but I've done over 100k of daily driving year round. I think that you should go with a second set of wheels for whatever type of racing or competition driving that you do.
For the street on a daily driving basis ( I did 50 miles a day for 6 years) I just cant see the need for such wide tires in front. It's going to deteriorate from the daily driving enjoyment IMHO. My 275's in front tend to hunt the grooves in the roads up here in the PNW particularly the ruts in roads left by the logging trucks. I use two sets of wheels myself because I run Conti DWS all round during the 7 months a year that it rains every day here in Seattle .. we don't get much big snow but it does get slushy here. Then I run GS-D3's in the summer. I considered going narrower in the front myself but I love the ability to rotate from front to back. Just tell the wife that the added tread life more than pays for the extra set of wheels.
I would say don't go wider than 275 up front for your daily driving and then swap out to what ever set of wheels and tire size is appropriate when you're doing gymkhana as we used to call it back in the 60's.
