Is the only difference the handle part on the 93+?
I am under the impression most 80s-90s gm gas caps are mostly interchangeable.
I want to know if the later ones will fit under my '90 fuel door?
I want a vented cap that fits under my fuel door, and it looks like the older truck ones will work but they have the handle on it mine is flat. If a 93+ fits in my fuel door the truck one should too?

No gas cap has been vented since I believe the 70s.
When I got my '93 last year, the cap that the previous owner had installed was a locking cap with the raised handle like in the GM pic. Plenty of clearance for the filler door to close and fit flush with the body. I'm not a fan of locking caps so I replaced it with a Stant cap that had the handle. No problems with that cap either.
My 90 had a locking with handle and replaced that with the Stant and it has the handle as well. If you find a vented cap that fits please post up the part number.

Why do you want a vented cap? I would think that such a cap may cause the evaporation emission pressure control valve and the evap emission canister to not work properly.

Mine came with a locking cap like the GM picture fitted to my 86. Works fine.

The tank is building up quite a bit of pressure in the hot months. Lines are not plugged. Vacuum valves for the canister etc seem to be working. Charcoal canister seems to be unavailable for purchase. Since a vented cap is not out there, will have to continue to troubleshoot. Gotta be something simple.

My '93 does the same thing. If I drive the car for more than 15-30 minutes, I can start to remove the cap and I'll get a big whoosing sound which is pressure being released. My '87 also built up pressure in the tank, but not as much.

This is illegal but you can modify a normal cap to be vented. Most caps have a spring that releases pressure if it builds to much pressure. You can either put a softer spring in or no spring at all.
Again vented caps were illegal starting in the early to mid 70s so I highly doubt you will find one.
When you see a advertisement for a vented cap it just means it will vent under very high pressure but 99.9% of the time it acts as a sealed cap.
