This is on an '86. Can the fuel filter be replaced without jacking up the car? Been a few years since I changed it, and can't remember. It's on grass right now, and a bit difficult to get to pavement. If I can do it where it sits, that would definitely be preferable, since it's not running at the moment. Thanks!

I just changed my fuel filter 2 days ago and I don't see how you can do it without jack stands.
I had it fairly high and still could barely get any leverage , but I don't think my filter has been changed in a LONG time. At least raise it up and or drive over a 4x4 or 4x6. Be safe! Don't forget the orings Pep Boys had a Gm Help oring kit that had the proper size brown orings for the filter and several other sizes.

As for me, it's been a few years, so I can't really be sure. Mine wasn't on all that hard though. Maybe some others will share their experience. My replacement came with the o-rings, but thanks...

Can it be done? Sure but for all the Aggravation of doing it blind by feel, Not sure you got the "O" rings in without pinching of knocking off, the Aching Wrists. It would be Much easier to have some Friends Help you push the car to a Safe Hard area where you could get it off the ground.

Wish I had some friends
I can get it there if I need to though, but my driveway is an incline and has a wrecked in-op car in it now...so might have to do it in the street in front of my house.

Not totally recommended but if you can't raise the car and you can Safely secure the car, Lower the Ground if needed, Dig yourself some clearance.
