I've heard here that the iron heads use small holes to guide the pushrods and non self aligning stamped rockers.

This means that you can use only 1.5:1 non self aligning RRs with the stock heads. Or you could have the heads machined so the closer pushrod movement won't bind and then use guide plates or self-aligning RRs.

Lifters, not rockers :jester

To answer your question I'm pretty sure that's a negative. Roller cams are ground differently. Cams for flat tappet lifters have a tapper face on the lobes that actually makes the lifter spin as it moves. Roller cams will have a flat face on the lobes.

I guess techically you COULD use them, but you would have a very small contact patch between the lifter and the cam which would cause some very strange wear issues.

Oops, my bad, I just reread the post.. ...gotta get "that woman" outa my thoughts before responding in the future. :bb

Anyway, yes, you cannot use roller lifters on a flat tappet cam for the reasons stated. In fact even with a roller cam it's a PITA since your block has no means of keeping the lifters from rotating.

Besides all of the above I think you would also have a ware issue. Hydaulic cams are cast and Roller cams are forged.
