Does anyone have a schematic for the headlight actuation circuit for an 88 they could share? The headlights go up OK but the drivers side will not go down. Verified the motor is good by applying 12v and it goes down then but will not go down when hooked up to the system.
I think the headlight motors being changed in 1988 would also apply to the wiring associated with them. In other words, a diagram from an earlier year wouldn't apply.

I have attached the wiring diagrams and guides from my 88 FSM.

I remembered the gearing had changed but hoped the relays and technique for rotating the lights had remained the same.

Wrong! They are entirely different. The relays for actuating the headlight motors were eliminated in '88, and the motors and geartrain are entirely different. '88 is when the pesky "bushings" were added to the motors, which occasionally need to be replaced.
To identify: the '84 - '87 headlight motors have the manual actuation ***** on the bottom of the motors, and the '88 - '94 motors have the manual actuation **** on the top.

Yeah...I've replaced those nylon gears once. Boy, was THAT fun!
Over time, I had gotten an incorrect impression about the existence of relays on my 89. I thought there were 2...one for each side. I even thought they were on the DS inner wheel well. Now, I'm thinking at least one is for the radiator fan.
Looked at the PDF (linked a couple posts up). Says there is a solid-state "Headlight control unit"? I never noticed that before..or where it's located. Guess I'll have to check the component location diagrams next time I have my FSM out.
