I did the job about 10 years ago on a 95. I am not familiar with the design of the early C4's. Are they riveted like the later C4? Anyone know of a how to video on these?
I saw them on Wilcox... are they satisfactory? I cannot remember where I got them last time...
early c4's are riveted, same as the later C4's. the outer sweeps are still available from GM, PN's 10245645 and 10245646 (RH/LH) but a bit pricey compared to repro's - about 2-3X. I do know from first hand experience, OEM stuff installs and fits a bit better than the repro stuff, although I have had some success with aftermarket. I do not know of any how-to videos, but it's fairly a straight forward job. rivets are 3/16 diameter, length (i'm thinking) .25-.375
I did my sweeps back in November that I bought from Wilcox. I was happy with the quality, the fit and finish.
Couple of things I learned....
*Take your time, this will not be a speedy job. This is a six beer job.
*Follow the steps in the FSM. They are really accurate
*Do both sides at the same time. Feels slower, but you can keep your work more organized.
* the hardest part (for me) was pulling the old sweeps off. They are on pretty good.
*Use painters tape to protect the paint on the outside of the door alaong the sweep edge
*Use electrical tape to mark a 1/8 inch deep guide/stop on your drill bit- any deeper and you will drill your door
*GENTLY drill out your rivet so the washer backing will just "fall" on to the inside ledge. It will be impossible to get out, so use a drop or two of Crazy Glue squirted through the rivet hole to hold the washer in place. If you don't, the washer will work its way to the bottom of your door and drive you crazy with the rattling.
*Careful with the hatch switch clips. For some reason, these are pretty brittle.
*Duct tape will be your friend as your will needs to secure loose wires.
This is a PITA, however, you will be thrilled with the results.

Don't panic if all of the sweep doesn't make great contact with the window right after you install it. It will relax with a bit of time and warm weather.
question for tou guys. did your window go down far enough along the entire length of the door so that you could get rivets across the whole went to sweep? My window does not drop lower enough so I can only get rivets at the front and back.

Mine did. The one in the middle was just above the curve in the window when all the way down.

Yeah, no issues with mine. It was tight but I had enough room.
