Default U joint question

I am trying to find out if the U joints on my 95 came out of the factory with greasable or non-greasable u joints.

After balancing the wheels I still have an annoying vibration at 45 to 60 MPM under acceleration. The forum suggests I check out the ujoints. Mine are non-greasable. Just trying to see if these have been changed out already.

Thanks for the help

Hi

I tend to replace my half shaft universal joints every 4 years on average, I have tried both types.
The ones with a grease nipple tend to wear but not dry out of grease like the non grease-able type.

They usually start squeaking when dry and rusty inside, don't forget a wheel alignment may be needed if wheels are balanced and you still have vibration. Or tires are out of round ... all too common..

Jack the car up so both wheels are off the ground, then rotate a tire back and forth. Look for any play or noises.

Good Luck.

Vibration would lead me to believe wheel bearings more then u-joints. Also I assume you're tires have been check for balance?

Had the same issue, cracked rear u joint on driveshaft. It was a hairline crack but replacing it was the fix.

Factory would be without zerk fittings.

Replace with Spicer forged joints.

Thanks for the tips guys.
I plan to get this on a lift Friday and test as you suggested to see if the u joints make noise or have play in them.
If needed I will go with the Spicers as they seem to have good reviews and comments.
It will not hurt to check the alignment after all of this.
I have only had this car a few months so I don't have a lot of history. But my gut tells me that these are the original u joints.
Hope I can fix this with my first attempt. Of course the vibration does not occur at high speeds so I can just go fast I suppose.....
