Default Upper Control Arm Nut Replacement

Curious if anyone knows where I can get a replacement nut for my upper control arm. The nylon lock washer broke when I removed it.

Do you think a replacement is needed? Or would red loctite be enough? I called GM and was told the part is discontinued. I went to a few places around here locally, but no one sells any that big with the lock washer.

Then what is it? It has some sort of nylon in the nut.

Interesting thanks. It sure doesn't look like Loctite though.

Default Yes, they are nylon lock nuts

I just completed my upper control arms and found that these are M20-2.5 steel nylon lock nuts. I purchased six of them, needed to go online since I could not find any local sources for these either.

I found a vendor on ebay that sells them at a reasonable price. Go to ebay and search for item #222388230672

Good Luck!

I found them at Fastenall, but had to buy them in a pack of 6 (or 8, not sure).

I always thought (for this application) the "nylon insert" in the nuts was more of a "sealing device" rather than a locking device due to the use of the dissimilar metals. The bushing/washer provide a seal for the base of the nut.

In very similar nutted (steel/steel) GM would have likely just specified a Prevailing Torque fastener.
