I had a torque converter shudder that was pretty bad at times. A mechanic suggested that I put a 4oz bottle of friction modifier additive in my transmission. I have a 95 base automatic with 59K miles.
It did work but I am now second guessing the decision. Is there any long term risks by doing this? He recommended and I used the Motorcraft brand.

Should be fine. Common problem with old lock up friction material.
