good piece of info for early c4 owners, when doing headers the 86-91
intermediate shaft is a hollow large tube and will usually hit a header tube, I refused to ding my brand new stainless headers, anyway the
shaft from a 92-96 is a direct replacement, no mods at all and it is a solid tube and almost half as thick and gives a lot of clearance to header tube now, and they are only going for $30-$40 on ebay
In another post somewhere i have pictures of the swap in my 84.
I ended up removing the u joint at the top in order to swap brackets.
Otherwise the steering wheel would have been slighly canted (84 and 85 issue only iirc).
Easy swap, and it allowed me to grease up the dried out u joints.
In the early C4's they have this rubber lined sleeve thing, thst rots out over the years and makes the steering very loose feeling.
The later shaft is a huge improvement.
