Default 89' - Hurst Shifter install - Help

In the middle of installing the Hurst shifter.
I have removed the console, x-brace, exhaust.... but I can't remove the upper boot . I have removed the 4 - 11mm nuts, and the metal around the boot.
Need some help, so I can remove the boot - anyone ?

The bottom edge of the boot fits around a raised lip on the tunnel. Although the shape may hold it in place there is a really nasty sticky tar like glue that holds it on.

Just be careful and start at a point (like the right side rearmost corner because it is easy to get to) and pull it out and up. Once it starts coming loose, continue working it all the way around.

The driver's side is very close to the console edge so it is tough to get off or back on this edge. Just be patient and keep working at it. If you use something sharp like a screwdriver you may puncture or tear the boot. So be careful. I used some popsicle sticks that seemed to help some.

Good luck.

You'll love the difference! Just make sure to form a habit of shifting to 5th before 6th. Every now and then I forget and try to shift straight from 4th to 6th on the interstate and just barely catch reverse .

95/96' do not have this issue.
