Replace lifters with cam swap?
Going to start a cam swap soon on my 93 with 90k miles. I'll be putting on a new timing chain set but wondering if I should go ahead and replace lifters while i'm at it....
Thoughts?

I wouldn't, if it were my car. Those lifters will go right on by 300k. Why change 'em at 90? Is there a service interval for them that I'm unaware of?

Thanks guys, seems like i could go either way. If I were to replace what i'm assuming stock replacements would be fine, however i've heard LS7 lifters can be used as well?
Can you elaborate a bit more....you mean checking operation of the plunger?

Check the external condition of the lifter wheels for scratches or signs of damage/scoring.
Check the external condition of the lifter bodys for deep scoring or scratches.
You can't really check the hyd part of the lifter except to know they were quite before you took the engine apart and to make sure the plunger is at the top, up against the retaining clip.
If you need or want to replace the lifters use GM PN 12499225.

^Thanks Will, appreciate the info. I'll confirm the condition upon removal and replace if necessary.

New camshaft new timeing chain new lifters. Is this a greater lift cam? Maybe new valve springs? A must to replace lifters if old cam has any worn lobes.

Lifter inspection is a great idea, but at 90k, they should be ready to go another 100k more. At least.
