Default came back from a weeks vacation and...

I try to start my car and it doesn't turn over just keep cranking. It's been raining for about a week straight here in Kansas city FYI. I last tried to start it on Friday. Wouldn't start even tried to jump the car but still nothing. This has happened before. And usually starts running after a few days. Maybe the condensation from the rain dries up and finally gets spark from the Optispark ? Idk this car is irritating I wish I had a car that I could just drive daily haha no problems.

You say it's been raining hard for day's has the car been out in it and you have Spark, if so take a look at the Gas Cap area and the Bib that surround's it look for evidence of water pooling around the cap. Sometimes the drain in the bib get's clogged and I have seen water get into the tank.

If you see Evidence of the water you may want to draw off a Sample either Syphoning off bottom of tank or Off of the Fuel Rail test port to confirm.

Put a fuel pressure gauge on it, and also check for spark. Which is missing?

So I got the car to start by using jumper cables. Had a friend come by and help. So I drove th car around for a bit. Went to eat. And everything was good no overheating or anything. I drove it on Tue highway for about 10 minutes and I started to notice that I had NO OIL PRESSURE. It was completely gone and the check your gauges light came on. And then I noticed my car was smoking a lot but the car was still not overheating on Tue gauges. I was low on oil and stopped at a gas station bought a quart of oil and drove back home. The oil pressure then was fine until I got off the highway again. And managed to get it home but started to smoke a lot more and noticed a change in sound of the engine.....I need to know where do I start to diagnose this LOL

This car needs some proper maintenance.

As to "where to start to diagnose this"....diagnose WHAT? This?:
"started to smoke a lot more and noticed a change in sound"

If it were MY car, I'd start diagnosing by pulling out the dip stick and checking my oil.

Getting more technical, I might post a video of the "change in sound" so as to help us, help you.

Your right I sounded like a noob. Haha well when I got home I noticed a **** ton of oil all over my driveway when my car was on. When I turned it off it stopped leaking. And also it was smoking a lot probably from oil coming from the oil pressure sensor? Because I had no oil pressure at all. It would go up and down.

Not Good, when you say it's Smoking is outside the Motor (oil leak/Blown Oil Pressure Sender) or out the Tailpipe, Internal leak?

It's outside the motor I think. From the oil pressure sensor ? That's behind the Intake manifold right ?

Yes

what year car is it? have you gotten under the car to see if the oil filter area is not involved.

It's a 1996 LT1. And the oil looks like it's coming from the oil pan area.

Sounds like someone didn't put the filter on tight enough...or stacked filter o-rings.

thinking here that the oil dip stick will show no oil on it if you only put one quart in it. The reason oil pressure jumped up and down was because the oil pump was sucking air because there was NO oil in the pan.

Just an observation....

Your car skills are evolving and don't make the mistake of learning an expensive lesson

Stop. Get your car to a competent shop. You have super scary things going on and before you blow up (literally blow up) your engine, you need to have someone look at it.

I'm suggesting your voluntarily spend 250 before you are forced to spend 4000 or sell your new parts car for 2k

Get it full of oil before you start it again, you might be able to save it, but leak must be fixed before it is driven, tow to shop if neccesary.

Thanks to all.you guys. I'm usually pretty competent when it comes to working on cars(specialize in Honda's) but I might have to let someone else look at it. And I hate having to let someone else touch because they never tskencsre of it like if it was there's.

I drove about 3-5 miles with no oil pressure. It would go up and down but for the most part was in no oil pressure zone.

I'm sorry but something doesn't "jibe" here. What "Honda specialist" drives 3-5 miles w/no oil pressure? Doesn't stop and check their oil? Can't figure out why an engine won't start? "Didn't overheat or anything"? Can't get on their knees, look under the car and see where oil is leaking from?

This thread is very bizarre. No one who knows anything about engines would do that to a car. What about Honda's do you specialize in?
