I need to know what gauges you guys are running, and where you put them.

I was told that I would need a boost gauge, egt gauge, and fuel pressure gauge. The problem is, is that there are only dual gauge pods, where do I put the third one?

I got a "turbo" gauge which reads vacuum as well as boost to 15psi. Definitely want the fuel pressure; I used a Nordskog (Intellitronix) digital since it reads accurate to 1psi. The EGT is definitely more useful than a simple rich/lean air/fuel gauge connected to the O2 sensor. But a real air/fuel ratio using a wideband O2 is best. However I didn't install either of these as it's mostly a ECM tuning issue and nothing I can do anything about; my programmer installs a wideband O2 and runs it on a chassis dyno for tuning.

And since you asked, here's where I put mine...

Although I can't afford to make a whole new dash while I'm at it and buy all new gauges, your dash is nice.

And I can't see your picture krivera.

What do you watch out for when driving, obviously see if you're loosing boost and losing fuel pressure as to not lean out. But do you use the EGT to monitor detonation also, or is it just for fine tuning.

I think fuel pressure is most important followed by boost/vacuum; those will tell you immediately of big problems. Third choice would be either EGT or a real air/fuel gauge (that reads other than Stoich, +, and -). It's just nice to monitor; your ear should detect detonation just fine. Which you shouldn't have any of if your knock retard is programmed correctly. I still regard these as tuning issues; since you really can't do much about them without re-programming.

I'm running a dual pod gauge setup with Nordskog items. I have a digital RED gauge: 0-16psi reading BOOST and a YELLOW digital gauge reading 0-100psi FUEL PRESSURE. The standard fuel-air gauges are insuficient (narrow) to give you any real data, so I don't have one in the car. Instead I got a Wide Band O2 meter that I use to tune. Go here: http://www.nordskogperformance.com/m9017.html and here: http://techedge.com.au

Thanks guys, I will be looking more into the fuel pressure gauge now. The nordskog one looks nice, and for the boost/vaccum gauge I think I'll get something else because nordskog doesn't have the vaccum feature, it's only boost.

Another thing I wanted to ask is, in what area should vaccum be at during idle?

I see about 10 in of vacuum at idle with a reasonable cam of 114* lobe sep. The good news is a blower cam is low overlap and should have good vacuum and emissions.

I used a "Turbo" gauge from VDO which reads vacuum/boot; Autometer also has several with different ranges. Here's some links:

What vaccum is good to have with a stock cam?

Oops correction- I looked yesterday and mine's really about 13" of vacuum at idle. Goes over 20" as the throttle opens and then back to zero once it's open halfway.
