I think most CFI'ers agree that they seem to "like" 13-14 PSI or so. The stock spec is 9-13, I believe...if you run them at 9, they'll run "fine", but weak. Definitely stronger running at the highest end of the spec. Mine seemed to like 14 pounds, when stock or stockish.
Make sure that once you set the pressure, you check it at WOT under full load. Pump may well meet the pressure requirement at idle, but it may not under full load. W/o using a gauge under that condition, you'd never know but you'd have a weaker running car.

Ok will do. I'll have it set at 13-14 and then have it checked under load. Thanks for your help.
I've got an 84 and a 94...the 94 is much faster (duh) and really didn't cost that much. Getting the 84 to 300 is fairly expensive.
But I like the Z51(84) package better than the FE1 (94)...not even close. So I drive the 84 a lot.
Have fun....
1. Or porting your own manifold. That will get you to the same point.
Fuel pump is pretty lame but can meet the damand I went 14.5/95 with mine and there was another forum member here who had gone into the 13's w/a stock pump...so replace when it fails to meet the demand...unless you like wasting money.
